Lia Cartagena has spent nearly two decades working at the intersection of business, nonprofits, and corporate social impact, and has held leadership roles in global, matrixed organizations helping them advance their ESG and corporate social responsibility goals. As Managing Director – Corporate Social Engagement at Changing Our World, Lia has worked with clients across sectors such as biotech, finance, and transportation helping them to create, sustain and amplify their community impact initiatives.
Prior to Changing Our World, Lia was Senior Manager of Social Responsibility and Weil Foundation at Weil, Gotshal and Manges, LLP overseeing the team that executes the Firm’s social responsibility and charitable giving efforts. In this role, Lia led Weil’s industry-leading multi-sector initiative, Weil Legal Innovators, which brings to bear the core competencies of the Firm by engaging rising law school students in addressing some of society’s most pressing challenges through public service. Previously, Lia worked at the Citi Foundation where she held roles in operations and programs. She led several of the Foundation’s largest global partnerships in the areas of Youth Economic Opportunities and Financial Inclusion, created transformational programming in over 80 countries and drove the Foundation’s operations strategy.
A San Francisco native and resident, Lia holds a Masters degree in Nonprofit Management and Urban Policy from The New School in New York City, where she lived for 15 years. She is fluent in Spanish and Italian and is an avid cook, hiker, and traveler.
