Cassandra Thayer is a Senior Consultant at Changing Our World where she has worked since the company’s inception in 1999.
During her tenure, Cassandra has managed major planning and fundraising efforts for a diverse group of nonprofit educational, healthcare, international and community development organizations including the Phoenix House Foundation, Plan USA, Leary Firefighters Foundation, and Crossroads RI, to name just a few. Over the last several years, Cassandra has worked primarily in secondary education, providing counsel and advice to numerous educational institutions throughout New England. Cassandra specializes in conducting capital campaign feasibility studies, executing capital campaigns and major gift fundraising efforts, and creating strategic development and capacity building plans to support her client’s philanthropic growth. Cassandra’s varied experience also includes foundation and corporate relations, annual fund, communications and social media, board recruitment and training, grant writing, and special event planning.
Prior to joining Changing Our World, Cassandra worked at the Franciscan Health Partnership and the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor Foundation, a multimillion-dollar international healthcare foundation that serves the poor. She also worked at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University, where she focused solely on securing major gifts for a $660 million capital campaign.
Cassandra received her BA from the University of Colorado at Boulder and has a Masters of Social Work degree from the Hunter College School of Social Work. She and her husband, David, live in Barrington, Rhode Island with their two children.
