BACKGROUND
Changing Our World’s engagement with New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) began with the implementation of a feasibility study to assess the University’s capability of engaging in a multimillion-dollar fundraising campaign. Bringing its in-depth knowledge of the collegiate philanthropic landscape and a commitment to excellence, Changing Our World recommended that NJIT move forward with the planning phase for a major fundraising endeavor. Following the planning study, Changing Our World remained engaged in the implementation of a $150 million national fundraising campaign, both as campaign counsel and as advisor and coach to the University’s advancement leadership to ensure an understanding of and commitment to best practices in higher education advancement, as well as to ensure the direction of advancement was and remains complementary to the strategic direction of the University.
CHALLENGE
NJIT’s NEXT Campaign reached its goal of $150 million a year early and retained Changing Our World’s services for the campaign extension with a goal of raising an additional $50 million by 2020 to support a new Wellness and Events Center (WEC). In July of 2017, Changing Our World partnered with Russ Reid Digital Services team to provide a refreshed campaign landing page experience in support of the historic WEC Grand Opening which took place November 10, 2017. Today, NJIT NEXT’s Campaign has surpassed its $200 million goal, with support from more than 23,000 donors. More than 250 new student scholarships have been created and NJIT’s endowment has increased by $50 million as a result of the great success of the campaign.
